so i drag myself out of bed at 11:30 and stumble downstairs to call Hot Topic, some bubblehead answers the phone and as soon as i tell her i'm calling cuz i submitted an application and a resume she says "the manager is looking them over and calling people for interviews," and hangs up on me. WTF. so i just said fuck it and went back to bed for another hour. i don't want to work there anyway, any benefits they could offer would never equal the self hatred i would acquire by working there. so its good not to be a sell out. i'll just see what happens with Ben & Jerry's and go from there, if i get any more calls cool, if not i'll just submit more applications come fall and see whats up. the only annoying thing about the place is that whenever i tell anyone online that i might work there its irritating to have to type out Ben & Jerry's, because B&Js makes it sound like i'm going into the sex industry.

we walked down to the Nickelodeon on Wednesday night to watch 28 Days Later with the new ending and all, it was NOT scary, just bleaker. it worked, i liked the first ending cuz it seemed to have more closure to it even tho it was kinda left open, i guess cuz it was left open in a more optimistic way. they're both good tho, and i still urge everyone to see it. don't think of it as a zombie movie. think of it as a fucking cinematic masterpiece. don't let the zombies drive you away, the acting, direction, cinematography, story, EVERYTHING is just brilliant. take it from me, your friendly neighborhood media cynic. AND STOP THINKING OF FUCKING RESIDENT EVIL PEOPLE. JUST BECAUSE 2 MOVIES HAVE ZOMBIES IN THEM DOES NOT MAKE THEM THE SAME. you don't sit there slackjawed and say something retarded about Night of the Living Dead whenever someone mentions Resident Evil so stop mentioning RE when people talk about 28DL. and for fucks sake go see it. its $6 per ticket at Nickelodeon, if you can get there you have no excuse.
in other movie ramblings, we watched The Beach the same night, you know, the movie that Leo Dicaprio starred in right after Titanic, and since its target demographic is obviously NOT 13 year old squealing females, more or less ruined his career? it was written by the same guy who wrote 28DL but the director was different so it just wasnt as good, still fun tho, from the trailers they showed when it first came out theres no way to tell what its really about but its quite interesting, i'd love to read the book. (i think there's a book.) so if you have a few spare hours that might be worth watching too. i also rented a few dvds the other day to keep me occupied in my limited time off from work this weekend (yeah, i only have to work 3 hours a day, screw you, its the most convenient block of time to see people, not that i do, and i'm dead tired when i get home anyway). i only watched one cuz it was a new release that had to go back today, it was called May, about a chick with a lazy eye, no friends except her dolls, who works in a vet's office sewing up animals and she makes her own clothes and dolls...oh, and she only notices the pretty parts of peopls and believes there are no beautiful wholes...so the neck of her coworker, the hands of her sort-of boyfriend, etc....you can probly see where that goes. not the best but very interesting, the scenes by themselves seem needlessly violent and shit but if you watch the whole thing its all significant. i also rented Soylent Green and Cecil B Demented, i'll watch one of those tomorrow i guess, or maybe both, probly one before work and one after.

does anyone know where i could find a pirate flag, something kinda like those retarded american flags people fly from their cars? i decided to pirate-theme my car but i don't know where to get more piratey stuff. i'll find some stickers and whatnot, it'd probly be easier just to make seat covers myself somehow, maybe i could take black cloth and bleach skull and crossbones on it, which come to think of it is a pretty kickass idea and would look way piratey....maybe somehow make my steering wheel look like a ships wheel but that might be taking it too far and also impossible (or at least very expensive). wonder if i could find a small stuffed parrot to put on the "shoulders" of one of the front seats, that'd be cute, i'll try Grand City for that i guess. so any suggestions for pirating out my car are welcome, maybe when i have some spare money and my car is sufficiently piratey i'll get vanity plates that say "ARRR" or something. :) pirates rule man. (i still haven't seen Pirates of the Caribbean btw, i don't know why >:)

just got back from the mall, couldn't find anyone to come with me so i went by myself, which was fine, i certainly know my way around the mall and it probly would've taken longer with someone else anyway. so i dropped off applications (and resumes) at Spencer's, Hot Topic, Ben & Jerry's and Newbury Comics. i also saw a help wanted sign at Origins and figured what the hell so now they have an application and resume from me too (i hope they don't call me tho, that place looks cramped and i'm almost sure their products are tested on animals, also any employee discount, unless it was mall-wide, would be wasted since i dont use that junk). i was gonna try and stop at sme of the restaurants in the mall plaza but i figured i could always come back, i didn't know what traffic was gonna be like coming back anyway. it seems a lot of the places in the mall area only hire part time (i know Hot Topic does and when some of the other places looked at my application and saw i had checked full time as preferred they asked me if part was ok too) but that may also just be the economy sucking. not that i'd mind a part time job, i'd just have to get two....then again if they're both in or close to the mall, bonus.
not much else is going on here....got work at 3:30, then i'm heading over to the Bath skate park to watch Lost Conscience's last performance (that'd be Billy's band). i'm supposed to take Ben (not Katey's Ben, the other Ben i've been hanging with) but i don't know where he's meeting me and he's at work now so i can't ask him, unless i called his work, i think he works at Burger King but i'm not sure which, probly the Topsham one so maybe i'll call him before i go to work, i'm assuming he'll be meeting me at my work since he gets out a half hour before i do and that's where he's met up with me twice before....i guess i should call just to make sure. and then after that i guess i'd be bringing him home but he lives out in Richmond or Bowdoin or something way out there and i don't know how to get there (which wouldn't be a problem since he could just tell me) but more importantly i don't know how to get BACK, which i ought to be able to figure out but its tougher at night....i was just gonna say i don't want to get lost cuz i have to work early tomorrow but i DON'T, unless my schedule has been changed again, which has been happening a lot but i think i'm still on for the afternoon shift so its all cool. :) maybe i'll go hang out at Denny's or something after the show (because thats surely where the band members and some of their groupies will be and i guess i ought to see people while i can cuz they're all going bye-bye soon....which reminds me, if you are leaving the area soon and want to hang out one or two or however many last times, give me a call (i'm in the phone book you lazyheads) or message me or something. :) and even if you don't care if you ever see me again, i may care, so let me know where you're headed and i probly will forget or lose the address and never write to you but hey, you never know, stranger things have happened.

went to portland with emily today, it was quite the adventure....first i take a random exit that says Congress St (not paying any attention to the direction on the sign) and end up practically in Westbrook, so i randomly take a left and after a bit arrive at the plaza with a Goodwill and a drum shop, so we go in the Goodwill and i drop off a resume and get a cute purpley plaid skirt, then we walk around a bit trying to figure out which way to go from there, i drop off another resume at Dogfish Co. (its a bar/restaurant, they had a help wanted ad online and it was just lucky that they happened to be right there, i'd never heard of them before.) so we turn down Park Rd. and walk to the end of the park and i notice a right turn that says South Portland so i figure we'll go there and skip the Old Port since i have no idea how to get there. well we get back to the car and head out, take the right, and i decide NOT to take the obvious signs pointing to the bridge. so then we realize we're in the Old Port and stop to drop off resumes and get food and shop more (dropped one off at Mexicali Blues, one at Condom Sense, bought a wallet and a pin and something else that i won't divulge since the person its for may be reading this and its a surprise). we stop at a little pizza place and get slices then we head to the car and cross the bridge. since i have no idea how to get anywhere in that city and theres no huge flashy sign that says MALL on it i take a left and soon realize i shouldn't have, so i manage to loop back around and try going right, then go straight, not having any idea what neighborhood or anything i'm in, but i'd made up my mind to keep going till i hit a sign that tells me i've gone too far or something to that effect, but i finally come to a familiar looking road and take a right....TADA i'm on Maine Mall Road!! so that worked out very nicely. and now i (sort of) know my way around Portland. so we go to Newbury's, i buy the last Lenore keychain, a skully air freshener, and the latest Lenore comic (which is sadly disappointing, very short, but whats there is cute) and they tell me i have to fill out an application and should staple my resume to it when i bring it back. then we go to the mall and it turns out the Jelly Belly store is hiring so i give them a resume, then on to Spencer's where they take my resume for the file but give me an application anyway which i also have to bring back, then to Thatcher's where they say they're probly not hiring but their other location is (i didn't bother paying attention to where it was since i wouldn't find it anyway) and they accept my resume, then on to Hot Topic where they give me this 2 page (front&back) application which has inane questions such as my drivers license number on it....oy. its hardly worth it, the only perks about that job would be me getting to pierce, tattoo and dye to my hearts content and getting a kick out of the elitist little black-clad brats who shop there. Ben & Jerry's was also hiring so i got an application and their manager will be there Monday till 6 so i can bring it back then with my resume, so before work on Monday i'll be heading back to the mall, if anyone wants to come you're welcome to, i WON'T need a navigator cuz i know how to get to the mall and back....but if you've got any desire to spend a couple hours with me in my cute car and at the scummy mall then let me know....
