isn't it weird how no matter how easy your job is or how few hours you work, you're always tired and sore all over when your shift ends?
i don't want to have to go in for another stupid 5 hours again tomorrow, but i do have to. and then work 3 hour shifts Friday thru Monday, which means i don't get to see Zack on his birthday unless its after work, and i get out at 6:30.
really the job's not bad, what i do is go aorund the the fridges on all 3 floors and restock them, then make coffee and hot water, roll silverware, go around with the cook when she takes the dinner cart and read off what each resident wants off the night's menu, then wash dishes and go home. i even get to eat whatever i want in the kitchen, and get my pick of meal choices, after dinner is served, but i think tomorrow i'm bringing a salad, because even tho the spinach quiche and tater tots i had tonight were quite tasty, i don't trust the meatlessness of the food.
i had to work with this really obnoxious aide today too, her name is Patty and she's very obviously from New York (i could have guessed but she told me). she's one of those people who asks too many personal questions and tells you too many things you just don't care about. she's only been working there 2 weeks and she was trying to tell me exactly what to do, even tho the cook explained it to me in great detail already. then she started telling me about how her name is really Patricia but she hates it so people call her Patty (as if i couldn't tell). i just told her its easier to say Patty anyway and i always wished my name was short for something. over the course of the evening she proceeded to ask me if i had a boyfriend, what he did for work (he doesn't, she seemed to have a hard time grasping that), what kind of car i own (i don't), whether i was vegetarian (she was surprised when i said yes) and then whether my mom was (wtf?). then on top of it all, as we were unloading the dishwasher for the last time and getting ready to leave, she said "oh, i know who you remind me of - Ozzy Osbourne's daughter." she had better have meant my clothes, cuz last time i checked i wasn't fat, ugly, spoiled or whiny. ugh, i think i have to work with her tomorrow, too.
so my hours are 3:30 to 6:30 on Mondays, Fridays and every other weekend, which means every other weekend i'll have a strip of time that i would normally be using for fun recreation ripped out and spent in the bleach scented kitchen, but i guess i can deal....i was just starting to get back into the habit of going out and doing things again, and it was starting to get fun, too. well, its not like my whole weekend is taken, just a rather inconvenient time block. but it does mean that i will probly be seeing less of Zack, cuz usually i got over to his house in the early afternoon and come home at night. i'm sad now.
i guess i don't have too much else to say. i hope i didn't have any really important homework for class because i wasn't there on Tuesday since i had orientation. (yeah, i thought it would be ok to schedule orientation for that day cuz i didn't know about the day off on Friday. Ms R and her whole 5/6 black English class must think i'm completely nuts cuz Monday was the second time i've come to the class and realized it was the wrong day. i ought to use that school calendar on the fridge sometime....)
well, i'm off to begin research on dreadlocks, cuz SKOLFIELD HOUSE DOESN'T CARE WHAT MY HAIR LOOKS LIKE YEAH!!!!!

its 2:30 a.m......whoops. should've gone to bed a while ago....its just one of those nights when i don't feel tired enough to want to sleep, so i forget to sleep.....you know?

i went to the battle of the bands...for a little while. stayed till about 6, then we drove to Lewiston for a punk show at Bates, which was free and much better than the battle. it took us forever to find the place tho, we had to ask a lot of people and eventually a cop gave us decent instructions to the campus and then a bunch off college guys told us how to get to the Silo and finally we found it.

i've been downloading lots of music lately, tonight i downloaded most of the Donnie Darko soundtrack cuz the version of Mad World (its really really sad and so is the part in the movie where its played) keeps getting stuck in my head, and its not good to have a song that can make you cry stuck in your head. plus i got the song from the party scene with the bagpipes in it....seriously, if you haven't seen this movie, go rent it, its fucking amazing. i wished i had gotten a chance to watch it more than once when i rented it last weekend. the tracks i downloaded aren't very high quality and sound a little distorted in places so i'm thinking of buying the soundtrack, but unless i can find it used and very very cheap thats not likely. bummer, the music is awesome.
