just got back from a couple nights at Zack's, i went over there on Saturday cuz we were going to see Manson that night, which we did, and he was muchly cool. we didn't even leave the apartment till a little after 9, and then we didn't actually get in my car until maybe 9:30 cuz while walking to the car i realized i left the tickets in my purse back in the apt. so i went back, but the lock is sticky so i fought with it for between 5 an 10 minutes till Zack came looking for me and unlocked it. we took my car and since we didn't know where Free Street was and didn't want to pay for parking we kept driving past the Civic Center and parked in a Rite Aid parking lot that you can park in at night and not get towed from. then we had maybe a 10 minutes walk back to the theater, and when we got there we saw buses and lots and lots of tape barring us from going in. so we ran allllll the way around the building till we found the front entrance, which coincidentally we would have arrivedat if we had turned around right away instead of running around the building. ah well. so we went inside and right away i saw Chad and we were all happy n huggy for a minute and then we asked who had played so far and it turned out we arrived during the intermission right before Manson which couldn't be better cuz we hate Chevelle, who in Maine hasn't seen 6gig a bazillion times, and we had never heard of the other band. so we had time to get a good spot in the crowd and everything. Manson came on and he had strippers n confetti n hats n was up in the air for a song n some freakishness and it was just a good solid show. not violent at all, since, as i predicted, the crowd was largely made up of people between the ages of 15 and 17. but that was nice as neither of us really felt like getting all moshy for Manson. while we were leaving i saw Doug, Gabe, Megan, Matt and Mona. i know there were more people there i knew but as the show wasn't too wild and we were only there for the main act we didn't get much chance to run into any other people.

the next day we decided to walk into the city and maybe find some more places for me to drop off my resume. (oh, i forgot, i called Ben & Jerry's on Friday and the guy said he was about to call me, he sounded really sorry and said he'd really like to hire me but he doesn't have to fill the position anymore cuz the help he thought he lost came back or something, and after this month he wouldn't need to hire people anyway cuz summer would be over. so thats a legitimate reason. but i still need to find a job. i'll try Portland Bullmoose if i can ever locate it (its HARD to find if you've only been there once, and only then cuz you stumbled upon it by accident) and i was thinking it would be way kickass to work as a receptionist in a tattoo/piercing studio....dream on anna, right? hey, i can hope.) we didn't find anyplace cuz almost everything was closed but it was nice to wander around, we walked to that boat launchy beachy path and got accosted by a hobo who asked for 92 cents, so Zack gave him a dollar in quarters. we got to the city and were thristy so we went on a search for somewhere to buy yummy drinks. we found a smoothie shop but went inside and saw it was a special fitness health smoothie shop so we left, then wandered some more till we found this little place that i probly couldn't get to easily again cuz i still don't know Portland well. but they had really awesome stuff like bubble milk tea (i'd heard of it before but never tried it so i got the almond flavored....yummy) and flavored iced teas and awesomely flavored slushes (Zack got the green tea one, that was tasty too) and then some hot teas, like chai and stuff, plus green tea ice cream, which i have never had but know of from a Martha Stewart cookbook (its my mom's, but some of the stuff in there is yummylicious). plus the only person there was this Asian woman who i assume ran the shop cuz it wasn't very big. the cups were Japanese, they were so cool, the tops had pictures of kids on em with surprised expressions on their faces and you have to poke the straw through the middle, thusly poking a gaping hole through a surprised child. it rocked. we were way tired when we got back tho, but we somehow managed to make it to the store a block or two away and get yumfood for dinner. then we got lazy and i decided to stay another night since i didn't have to work till 10:30.

so i get to work today, thinking that its odd i'm working 10:30 to 6:30, those aren't aide's hours....then after about 10 minutes i realize that i'm the evening cook. i freak out and the day cook tells me to go talk to my boss, which i did, and luckily the meal was easy to make and the only complaints that i know of were from some of the old people cuz i spilled some tomato soup on their plates, which happens, EVERYONE spills soup when they serve it, but i guess they didn't have anything better to complain about tonight. so apparently i'll be on more evening cook's shifts, which is ok cuz i DID say i'd help out since Margaret had left (remember? i got offered her job but didn't want it). it just seems to go longer than if i were to go in from 7-3 as aide, maybe cuz theres still a good chunk of day left after i get out from being aide, and cuz the repetition of that job makes it go by faster. maybe if the meal was more complicated it would have taken longer. whatever.
i learned something at work today - eggs tarnish silver. one of the things on the dinner menu was egg salad sandwiches (EWWY) and i had to boil, peel and slice close to 75 eggs (FUCKING EWWY I SAY, EWWY). my boss got bored and decided to help me do most of the peeling but afterwards my silver rings were all goldish-black on the side that had been touching the eggs. somehow my annoying-as-fuck night aide knew what caused it (calcium in the yolks is what she said) so anything that cleans calcium ought to fix my rings, like that CLR stuff, if we have any of it, i'll have to find out.

not much else going on here, i'm off work tomorrow so maybe i'll try to find something to do. i should go see the pirate movie since i STILL haven't done it, i'll try to find someone who wants to go (who hasn't seen it like twice or more). i wish it was playing at the Nickelodeon cuz then we could just walk to it from the apartment but whatever.

i guess thats enough from me cuz people don't seem to read this too much.
